Guided Hike at Brown & Williamson Conservation Area
February 3, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$5 – $15Join CRLC on Friday, February 3rd at 1-4pm to learn about the natural landscapes of the Brown & Williamson Conservation Area and the conservation easement which protects it through a guided hike led by Chesterfield County Naturalist, Mark Battista, and CRLC Land Conservation Manager, Jane Myers.
ABOUT THE AREA
The 262-acre Brown and Williamson Conservation Area (B & W) in Chesterfield County provides prime foraging habitat for bald eagles and contains a 20-acre lake which provides critical habitat for migratory waterfowl. The landscape is a mixture of mature upland forest, steep slopes, slow-flowing stream bottom land, and stable bluffs overlooking the James River.
ABOUT THE HIKE
The hike will consist of an approximately 2 to 2 1/2 mile amble through and around the property. There are no trails so participants must be very comfortable on uneven terrain in flat and hilly woods. Participants should wear comfortable sturdy hiking shoes or boots and bring water and a light snack if desired.
To ensure everyone’s safety, headcount for all CRLC hikes is limited to 15 participants, not including our two guides.
