Nature and art collide in Writing the Land: Virginia, a newly published poetry anthology that showcases the vast and exquisite beauty of Virginia through the collaboration of numerous environmental organizations or indigenous tribes and poets and artists from across the Commonwealth.

In celebration of the book’s release, Richmond and Tri-Cities participating organizations, Capital Region Land Conservancy (CRLC) and Friends of the Lower Appomattox River (FOLAR), will host an evening of readings with two of the featured poets, Joanna Lee (Richmond’s Poet Laureate) and Gwyn R.C. Moses.

“Summer Stanzas: An Evening of Poetry with CRLC and FOLAR” will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Basic City Beer Co. in Richmond’s Manchester at 212 West 6th Street Richmond, VA 23224.

Through their poetry, Lee and Moses will take guests on a trip to some of the natural and historic lands that have been conserved by CRLC and FOLAR.

The event is free but registration is encouraged; walk-ups are welcome.
