November 14 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
Volunteers prep plants at Varina LandLab

Grab your friends and family and set a course for the Varina LandLab Conservation Area in celebration of National Take a Hike Day!

Get outside with CRLC on Saturday morning, November 14 during our annual open house featuring special activities:

Birds & Burns Guided Hike with Richmond Audubon Society
8:30am – 10:30am

Spend the morning with the Richmond Audubon Society for a guided walk through the Varina LandLab with speakers Ewa Greene and Alan Wingfield. Our guest guides will share their knowledge about birding and wildlife habitats, including how prescribed burns such as at the Varina LandLab help support ground bird habitat.  The walk and talk will start from Trailhead #2. Space is limited.
Register for this free hike here!

Native Planting
9:00am – 11:00am
Join us in stewarding the VarinaLandLab as CRLC Land Stewardship Manager, Ashley Moulton, leads a native planting project at Trailhead #3 where we will install over 500 new plant plugs. This is an active task on ground with an incline. Gardening experience is helpful but not necessary. Training and tools provided.
Sign up to volunteer here!

Dawn to Dusk
Enjoy over 5 miles of trails, educational signage, natural art installation, and benches and tables to picnic as the Varina LandLab Conservation Area is open to the public.  Make your plans to visit!
