About this event
MAY: CHESAPEAKE BAY PREPARES FOR CLIMATE CHANGE

After a wide-ranging and geographically agnostic survey of climate change in February and March, we are turning to look at how climate change is affecting our very own Chesapeake Bay region. We’ll read an article by local Richmond journalist, Sarah Vogelsong, who reports regularly on environmental issues in Virginia.

Selected Reading

Sarah Vogelsong’s recent piece “On Virginia’s rural coast, resiliency and Chesapeake Bay conservation goals collide amid sea level rise” focuses on the tension between safeguarding private property and allowing ecosystems to effectively respond to climate change. The article comes at a time when much of the conservation and land use planning community is grappling with how to prepare the low-lying Chesapeake region for rising sea levels. We are excited that Sarah will also be joining us for the conversation!

“On Virginia’s rural coast, resiliency and Chesapeake Bay conservation goals collide amid sea level rise”, by Sarah Vogelsong for Virginia Mercury.

Hosted by Capital Region Land Conservancy, the only land trust dedicated to the Richmond region.
