Volunteer with CRLC! Park Day 2026 at Malvern Hill

CRLC is excited to partner with Richmond National Battlefield Park and American Battlefield Trust on the 2026 Park Day on Saturday, April 25!
ABT’s Park Day is a national effort bringing volunteers together to assist battlefields and historic sites with needed help. Sign up to join us for a day of service assisting the National Park Service with invasive species control at the historic Malvern Hill Battlefield from 9:00am – 12:30pm. CRLC purchased over 800 acres of this historic area in eastern Henrico to permanently protect it from development in 2018 and in 2022 transferred around 400 acres to the National Park Service for inclusion in the Richmond National Battlefield Park.
Volunteers will learn about invasive forest vegetation and how to control it. They will work to cut or pull certain identified weed species to foster healthy native forest as part of the battlefield landscape.
The schedule will be as follows:
9:00am – Introductions, safety briefing and information sharing
9:15am – Project work
11:30am – History talk about the Malvern Hill Battle and landscape
12:30pm – Wrap up

Additional information and instructions will be emails prior to the event. Tools will be provided but volunteers are encouraged to bring their preferred tools.
