Announcing Plant A Park Fest Benefiting Future Public Park

Plant a Park Fest Caps Off Summer Long Fundraising for Future Public Park

Richmond, VA – Capital Region Land Conservancy (CRLC) in partnership with Brambly ParkCapital Trees, and Greater Scott’s Addition Association announce the Plant a Park Fest happening Sunday, September 6, 2026 from 11:00am to 9:00pm at Brambly Park, located at 1708 Belleville Street Richmond, Virginia 23230. The all-day festival brings together local music, artisan vendors, and neighborhood spirit; inviting the community to come together for a day of celebration while directly supporting CRLC’s fundraising goal of acquiring property at 3420 Norfolk Street in Scott’s Addition for the creation of the neighborhood’s first permanent public park.
Plant A Park Fest features a variety of live music with performances by headliners Jared Stout Band and Style Weekly’s Best of Richmond 2025 winners, Afro-Zen Allstars. Additional entertainment by Painted World, Prabir Mehta, Tiara & Andrew, Sun V Set, and Brian Caperton. In addition, attendees can browse artisan vendors and popup experiences, plus tour the park site to see what’s in store for the future and enjoy Parousia Coffee Truck. Tickets to the festival are currently available to be purchased online and are donation-based starting at $15 for general admission entry and $38 for entry, welcome cocktail and a limited edition festival t-shirt. 100% of ticket proceeds plus 10% of food and drink sales at Brambly Park will support the fundraiser.

The all-ages and dog-friendly Labor Day weekend event caps off the summer-long “Raise A Glass. Build A Park.” campaign to raise awareness and funds for the creation of the future “Christie’s Garden” park in Scott’s Addition. Throughout July and August, Greater Scott’s Addition Association member businesses have come together in support of the project, hosting a variety of “give back” events such as offering a percentage of sales or the upcoming Greater Scott’s Addition Association night at CarMax Park on Wednesday, August 26 with the Richmond Flying Squirrels where a percentage of the ticket price sold through a unique link goes toward the project.

The enthusiasm and generosity of the Scott’s Addition community highlights the need and importance of greenspace at one of Richmond’s most intense urban heat islands. This proposed park would join three other green spaces that the Greater Scott’s Addition Association has helped establish since 2018, and directly supports Richmond’s INSPIRE plan to ensure every resident is within a 10-minute walk of a park.

The vision for a larger community greenspace began with Christie and Kevin Barry, owners of the former Christie’s Fine Gardening & Creative Landscapes, who rather than sell to a developer, chose to give back and part-gifted, part-sold their 0.43-acre property to Capital Region Land Conservancy,  donating over $1.4 million in donated land value, CRLC has actively fundraised this summer to secure the $600,000 acquisition cost, with generous leading donations being received from the City of Richmond, Community Foundation for a greater Richmond, Greater Scott’s Addition Association, and City of Richmond 2nd District Office. Thanks to the inclusion of neighborhood “give back” nights, peer-to-peer fundraisers, and individual donations, CRLC is currently 85% toward its fundraising goal. The Plant a Park Fest offers another meaningful – and fun – way for the public to support the project and ensure we grow more greenspace in the City.
For those that can’t join the Plant a Park Fest or any of the give back events at local Scott’s Addition business, donations to the campaign to acquire the future park may be made directly to CRLC at its crowdfunding website.
Since 2005, Capital Region Land Conservancy has facilitated the protection of over 500 acres of greenspace within the City of Richmond, including the James River Park System and such notable projects as Mayo’s Island, The Trail of the Enslaved at Brander Street (formerly known as the Richmond Slave Trail), Jefferson Avenue Community Garden, and Dock Street Park and “The View That Named” Richmond.
