The protection of 16 acres at Cedar Creek Farm was an important effort to protect dwindling farmland from increasing development of Powhatan County.
Situated along Huguenot Trail (State Route 711), a state-designated scenic byway, Cedar Creek Farm sits in an area significant for the former French Huguenot settlement in Manakintown, and sits across from Sublett’s Tavern, which was a stagecoach stop and tavern in 1813.
The land at Cedar Creek Farm ranks among the highest in Virginia in terms of its vulnerability to development, according to the Virginia ConservationVision Development Vulnerability Model.
